Background Information:
Young Thug announced he would be releasing an album titled UY Scutti on September 26th. However, the road to get there was filled with drama and the loss of friendships with frequent collaborators.
On May 9th, 2022, Young Thug and other members of his label, Young Stoner Life (YSL), were arrested as part of a larger RICO case against the label. After pleading guilty to multiple charges related to the case, Young Thug was released on October 31st, 2024. Following 900 days in prison, he was sentenced to a 15-year probation that heavily restricts what the rapper can and can not do. During the case some YSL members, like Gunna, cooperated with the police to receive a lighter sentence. This led Young Thug to heavily criticize those members and label them as “rats.”
August 27th:
A 2023 interrogation video resurfaced online, leading to people calling Young Thug a “rat.” The interrogation focused primarily on a 2015 incident in which Lil Wayne’s tour bus was shot at–a key event in the YSL case. In the video, police question Young Thug about the shooting. He mentioned Peewee Roscoe, the alleged shooter, and repeatedly said, “I don’t know if he did it,” expressing the same sentiment in different ways for over a minute.

Young Thug responded to the snitching allegations by going to Twitter, stating that the interrogation video was never played in court and that he was actually trying to help Roscoe.

Peewee Roscoe then took to Instagram to defend Young Thug. He stated that Young Thug never snitched on him, as he neither gave a solid statement nor told a lie. Rosacea argued that simply naming someone is not the same as cooperating with authorities–and that only people online would see it that way.
August 28th:
The following day, Young Thug returned to Twitter to continue defending himself against the “snitching” allegations.

August 30th:
An audio call from jail holding Young Thug was leaked online. The call, which took place in 2023 and lasts 25 minutes, features a conversation between Young Thug and 21 Savage.
In the call, Young Thug and 21 discuss other rappers (e.g. Lil Baby and Lil Durk) dissing Gunna before Young Thug had the chance to confirm whether or not Gunna had actually snitched.
They react to Gunna dissing Lil Baby on “Bread & Butter,” where Gunna points out the hypocrisy of Lil Baby calling him a rat, despite the fact that Quality Control Records’ CEO, Pierre “P” Thomas (who signed Lil Baby), allegedly has his own history of snitching. The two laugh it off, with 21 commenting that Gunna “wasn’t lying.”
Despite the situation, Young Thug was showing love to Lil Baby calling him “Solid.”
He was saying things between him and Gunna could’ve been different if other rappers–like Lil Durk and Lil Baby–hadn’t cut ties with Gunna before Young Thug could confirm the snitching allegations for himself.
At one point in the call, Young Thug says that Gunna took a plea deal to get out of jail for a woman, and bitterly wishes “he never gets p*ssy no more…”
Young Thug also says he tried to call Gunna, even after he snitched, but Gunna never answered
Later in the conversation, Young Thug explains how he felt betrayed by Gunna’s court statement claiming that YSL was a gang, which helped him solidify the case as a RICO case.
Following the leaked call, Pierre “P” Thomas took to Instagram to call both Young Thug and PeeWee Roscoe “broke-ass rats.”
August 31st:
More jail phone calls involving Young Thug continued to leak throughout the next day.
In one of the leaked calls, Young Thug said that he had originally planned to drop his album Business is Business on the same day as Gunna’s A Gift is a Curse, and then release another album the following week to overshadow Gunna’s drop.
Young Thug also claimed to have spent over $50K on fake streams to help Gunna’s 2022 album DS4EVER debut at No. 1 over The Weeknd’s Dawn FM.
Later in the call, after finding out Business Is Business might not debut at No. 1, Young Thug instructs his team to contact their fake streaming “plug” to try and boost the numbers.
September 2nd:
The CEO of Quality Control Records, P, changed his Instagram picture to an AI generated photo of Young Thug as a rat.

September 3rd:
In response to the recent criticism around him, Young Thug went to his Instagram story and posted a quote from Denzel Washington: “‘Who Cares,’ When Asked If He's Ever Worried About Being Cancelled Or Losing Public Support.”

Another phone call leaked on this day, in which Young Thug called out Lil Durk for not clearing a verse for his album.
Later, Young Thug went to Twitter to respond to recent backlash, writing, “Bashing me only goin f*ck that rap community up more, I’m the blue to this fake ass game.”

One of Lil Durk’s associates, OTF Twin, addressed Young Thug on Instagram, accusing him of gossiping on the phone calls.

Young Thug responded on Twitter, claiming he had sent his own lawyers–and paid out of pocket– to help Lil Durk with his legal issues.

OTF then responded on Instagram, saying that they don’t accept money from rats.

September 4th:
Another phone call leaked on this day, in which Young Thug made fun of Glorilla’s appearance.
Glorilla responded on Twitter, saying that Young Thug was in her phone, asking what color her eyes were.

Young Thug went to Twitter to apologize and said, “I was speaking from jail and was having a hard time with life…”

That same day, Young Thug announced he would make an appearance on Big Bank’s podcast.

September 5th:
Another leak happened September 5th. In the call, Young Thug mentions J. Cole and André 3000 while speaking on NBA YoungBoy. He says that nobody likes J. Cole’s music and that no one wants his album The Fall Off to come out. Regarding André 3000, Young Thug comments that he was once the biggest artist in the world but never put anyone else on.
Also leaked on this day was a diss track titled “CLOSING ARGUMENTS," where Young Thug disses Gunna, Yak Gotti, YSL Slug, YSL Woody, YSL Obama, YSL DK, and SlimeLife Shawty.
Young Thug then announced a livestream with Adin Ross.

September 6th:
Another leaked phone call surfaced, in which Young Thug explained the origins of the Metro Boomin and Drake beef. He revealed that Metro’s mother had died, and instead of offering condolences, Drake was asking for a new song just weeks later. He also was mad at Drake, saying he should have spoken to the president to help get him freed.
A separate leaked call featured Young Thug discussing Future. In it, he talked about Future being a parent and admitted to cheating on his girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist.
In another leaked call, Young Thug went off on Future after he declined to participate in a “Free Young Thug” show. He claimed Future copies other artists’ styles and knows nothing about music.
One the same day, Young Thug appeared on a podcast with Banks to try and clarify the ongoing drama. He spoke on Gunna and other people that snitched, saying he would have preferred for them to give his location to his enemies rather than go to prison. He also speaks on the leaked phone calls, explaining that his freedom was on the line during those conversations and that he felt down and out.
September 7th:
Young Thug went on Twitter to apologize to his girlfriend for cheating on her, as he had admitted in the leaked calls.

Later that day, Young Thug posted that he was now single.

Young Thug went on to apologize to everyone involved in the drama.

He then canceled his Adin Ross stream, stating that he didn’t want to talk about the drama anymore.

September 8th:
Glorilla posted a picture on Instagram, referencing the leaked Young Thug phone call in her caption. Young Thug then commented under the photo with heart emojis, seemingly trying to ease the tension and stop the beef.

Another phone call leak happened on September 8th. In it, Young Thug confirmed that Drake was dissing Gunna on the intro to his album Business is Business.
September 11th:
Yet another phone call leaked, this time featuring a conversation between Young Thig and Mariah The Scientist. In the call, Mariah told him that Kodak Black had been messaging her while he was in jail.
Following the call, a diss track by Glorilla titled “Brianna” leaked online. The track targeted both Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist, referencing details from the leaked phone call.
Later that day, Young Thug took to Instagram and posted a public apology directed at several people: Mariah The Scientist, Drake, Lil Baby, Future, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, HiDoorah, and Dolly White
Young Thug then went on Twitter to say that the leaked calls were AI.

Shortly after that Young Thug posted the music video for “Man I Miss My Dogs” on Twitter. At the end of the video, he announced his new album UY Scutti would be released on 9/19.

September 14th:
Young Thug sends love to Quavo and Takeoff a few days following the mass apologies.

Young Thug later returned to Instagram to claim, once again, that the calls were fake.

September 22nd:
Young Thug confirmed that his album was dropping on September 26th. He also dissed YFN Lucci, whose album was scheduled to drop on the same day.

YFN Lucci then dissed back shortly after.

Later that day, Thug revealed that he and YFN Lucci actually had a track together on the upcoming album, suggesting that the earlier disses were a part of a marketing strategy.
September 25th:
On this day, Young Thug unveiled the album cover and revealed the full tracklist.

September 26th:
Young Thug released UY Scutti on time, and several tracks included references to the drama leading up to the release
On “Sad Slime" he says, “I seen my brother turn rat right in my face, I've been crying all day," a clear reference to Gunna. On “Dreams Rarely Do Come True,” Thug adds, “Why would I cry over a b*tch I gave to Gunna police ass?"
September 27th:
Following his release and a few press interviews, Young Thug took to twitter and posted this:

Final Thoughts:
The road to the release of Young Thug’s latest album has been messy and full of controversy. While the feature list appears strong and suggests that relationships with some collaborators remain intact, Thug’s behavior in the lead-up to the release hints that not everything is going well for him. He’s appeared on a few podcasts and livestreams to discuss the album and some of the drama, but so far, nothing of importance has been said. Only time will tell if this drama will have a lasting impact on Young Thug’s career and personal life.
